Social Impact Award International Summit 2017

The SIA Summit 2017 marks the highlight of this year’s Social Impact Award program. It is a gathering of more than 150 young social innovators from 18 countries in Europe and beyond taking place in the vibrant Serbian capital Belgrade from October 31st to November 4th, 2017.

The event is a gathering of all impact ventures that won the Social Impact Award in 2017 as well as a meeting of all organizations that implement the program in all 18 SIA countries. Moreover, the event serves as a great opportunity to engage with national and international stakeholders of the Social Impact Award in an interactive and collaborative manner.

Social Impact Award Summit 2017 - SIA Winner Bootcamp is designed to:
● Provide a step-by-step methodology to rapidly and systematically validate your venture's business model;
● Support you define, prototype, and validate an element of your project that you want to work on (e.g. a marketing campaign, a new pricing model, a feature of your product/service...)
● Offer you an opportunity to build relationships with your SIA Winner peers and international network of SIA coordinators, experts, mentors, and SIA alumni & partners.

The Summit will help you to:
● Understand what your job description is as an early-stage entrepreneur;
● Identify the foundational assumptions that underpin the venture;
● Design and run experiments to validate or invalidate those foundational assumptions through customer discovery, rapid prototyping, and engaging with mentors and peers;
● Reflect on your role as a leader of social change and innovation.

The progression of the Bootcamp oscillates between in-classroom workshop time and independent/peer-to-peer work slots where you'll immediately apply learnings to your own business in a hackathon style. The process of 1) identifying assumptions, and 2) testing them will happen continuously throughout the bootcamp. This is your job as an early-stage entrepreneur: to be constantly and rapidly learning!

The Bootcamp will also feature work with 1) facilitators - throughout the entire Bootcamp, who will help you to move forward when you get stuck and challenge you if the process gets too comfortable; 2) mentors - who will come in for half-a-day to provide additional input, inspiration, and feedback for moving ahead in the process. All facilitators and mentors involved in the Lab are entrepreneurs, business leaders, and experts in their field; some of them have launched and grown ventures, while others have supported successful early-stage ventures and therefore are uniquely positioned to speak to the challenges and questions that early-stage entrepreneurs have.

At the end of the Summit you will have:
● Learned a repeatable methodology for how to do customer and stakeholder discovery;
● Built 2-3 prototypes of a key element of your venture (e.g. a marketing campaign, a new pricing model, a feature of your product/service...);

● Developed a closer connection with entrepreneurs of similar stage and working in the same field

● A to-do list with next steps for further business model and value proposition validation and testing
● Increased your confidence level about the foundational assumptions underpinning your venture

How to Prepare for the Bootcamp

What can you do now to prepare for the Bootcamp? There are a few optional things you can think about to even be more prepared for the Summit! If you don’t think through these things, you will still be fine, but considering the following things will help you to capitalize on what the Bootcamp has to offer.

● Identify your target customer and other stakeholders of your business model : think through who are relevant stakeholders for your project: target customer, beneficiaries, competitors, supporters, funders etc. - where to find them, and what they care about;
● Identify the key questions you need to answer to validate your business model: think through the key unknowns or questions you have in your venture at the moment and process how you might go about discovering the answers to those questions.
● Identify the key goals you want to accomplish over the next 6 months: think about the major things you want to accomplish and figure out in the next 6 months.
